Red Cross Opening Office in Wilcox County

The American Red Cross of Central Alabama is announcing that it will be opening an office in Wilcox County.

A special ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at the new office located at 119 Hawthorne Street in Camden, next to the Department of Transportation and the Wilcox County Emergency Management Agency.

Representatives from the Red Cross will be on hand to meet and greet the public, and guests will be treated to hot dogs, soft drinks and door prize drawings.

A blood drive will take place from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., and a class for anyone interested in becoming a Red Cross disaster services volunteer will begin at 1 p.m.

"We are thrilled to be opening an office in Wilcox County," said Jakki Caldwell Phillips, manager of the American Red Cross of Central Alabama's Black Belt Branch office. "We hope the public will join us for this exciting event, and we encourage everyone in Wilcox County to support the Red Cross in its vital mission of helping keep our communities healthy and safe."
