Covering Elmore County: Millbrook Murder Victim Identified; Co-workers Remember Him

Victim: Bryan Martin
Victim: Bryan Martin

Less than 12 hours after the shooting in the Millbrook Wal-Mart parking lot, a Montgomery police officer spotted Bryan Martin's truck on the Eastern Boulevard.

"There was a high speed chase," said Montgomery police Captain Huey Thornton.

A chase that ended in an apartment complex parking lot off the Southern Boulevard around 9 Thursday morning.

The driver got away but within a short time investigators from Millbrook and Montgomery knew they had found Martin's red, 4-door F-150 pick up. There is a gaping bullet hole in the passenger door on the driver's side.  Martin died in the Millbrook Wal-Mart parking lot after someone shot him 'multiple times' around 10:40 Wednesday night.

"Any time you have someone who will kill over a vehicle is dangerous. We consider this to be a random act of violence," said Millbrook Assistant Police Chief P.K. Johnson. Millbrook is a growing town but not one known for violent crimes.

The 23-year old Martin worked at Kelly Aerospace off Highway 80 West in Montgomery near the airport. Co-workers say Martin was so much more than an employee.  A good friend, somebody you hung out with a lot. A young man who loved his family.

"I'm just shocked," said John Mincey.

Mincey was close friends with Martin and both worked together at Kelly Aerospace. Mincey was among the hundred or so who attended a morning meeting where company officials broke the terrible news.

"It's hard to express the amount of respect we had for him. Not only a model employee, but a model person. He taught me a lot about life,"Mincey said who served as Martin's mentor at the company.

Gone at 23, Bryan Martin was married and had two really young children; a 2-year old and a 3- month old.

"I have unbelievable anger because so much was taken away. It's not right and it's not fair," said Mincey.

Millbrook police are questioning two people but as of this report they have not been charged with any crimes.

This is Millbrook's second homicide of the year.

Millbrook Police now have two Montgomery men in custody, 28 year old Ron-Darrell Terrell Williams and 18 year old Calvin McMillan are charged with Capital Murder.
