A man suspected of robbing the Regions bank on the Jackson Hospital campus is now in custody.

Montgomery Police officers responded to a call from a local hotel security gaurd early Wednesday morning.

The gaurd informed officers that the suspect was inside a hotel room.

Officers responded to call and subsequently arrested 44-year-old Phillip Darryl Wingard.

Wingard told officials he robbed the bank so he could buy medicine for his serious back pains.

Officials say he purchased crack cocaine with over half the money.

Wingard is currently being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

Wingard is charged with Robbery 1st degree.  Bond is set at $60,000.
