Authorities are calling off the search for an escaped state inmate who broke out of Kilby Prison Wednesday night.
Officials believe 37-year-old Raymond Johnson is headed to Mobile on a freight train.
Police and sheriff's departments in that area have been notified and are on the look-out for Johnson.
Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall says 37-year-old Raymond Johnson escaped from the print shop at Kilby Prison Wednesday evening.
Police began the search for Johnson in a wooded area near the prison, then an area near Waugh.
Search dogs picked up the inmate's smell near the prison and followed it for several miles before darkness fell.
Late Wednesday night, corrections officers on scene confirmed that Johnson is surving a life sentence for 3rd degree burglary charges from Marshall County.
Johnson is not considered to be armed or dangerous.
