WSFA 12 News is confirming that Juan Daniels has been captured and is now being held in the Montgomery County jail.
After a hearing Tuesday afternoon, bond was raised to $50,000 from $15,000.
U.S. Marshals and Gulf Coast Regional Task Force members along with state and local authorities took the 20-year-old into custody at 8:45 Tuesday morning.
Daniels was in the Tuscaloosa area when he was arrested.
Daniels is accused of beating his mother's dog, named Louis Vuitton after the famous fashion designer, with a shovel.
"Louis" was then doused with charcoal lighter fluid and lit on fire.
The dog, which was still on a chain, chewed off pieces of it's own flesh to escape the flames.
Louis is recovering at an undisclosed animal clinic from severe burns to over 60 percent of his body.
The entire incident occured, according to officials, because Daniels was not allowed to use the family car.
Efforts to captured Daniels were stepped up because of the severe nature of the crime.
If convicted Daniels could face up to 10 years in prison.
