A Montgomery church is full of questions after receiving terrible news Tuesday morning. Church members at Peoples Baptist Church learned their pastor had been murdered.
It happened within a stone's throw of Peoples Baptist Church near Alabama State University.
"The victim had been run over by his own vehicle," said Captain Huey Thornton from the Montgomery Police Department.
That victim is 53 year old Paul Boswell, a pastor at the church for the last 32 years. According to one parishioner, Pastor Boswell was at home Tuesday night when he received a phone call. Boswell reportedly told his family he would be right back but never returned.
"I'm not aware of anything that would cause his death," said Thornton.
It was an Alabama State University security guard on routine patrol who found Boswell's body underneath his Cadillac, a guard who initially thought it was a traffic accident. But once police arrived it became clear they were dealing with the city's 36th murder of the year.
The congregation was in the process of having a new church built when Boswell died.
