Email Scam Solicits Millions From Americans

The US Postal Inspection service is working to curb an attractive scam that promises big monetary returns.

They say it begins with an email from someone who needs to leave a foreign country, and asks for a donation.

Many residents are actually sending money through the mail some loosing up to $4,000.

So far this year, an average of more than 800 people a month have filed complaints about this scam.

Postal officials say two Birmingham-based companies have designed a series of national tv and print ads to help consumers avoid this trap.
