DeAngelo Jackson lies in a Montgomery hospital, his right arm heavily bandaged.
Thursday night, he and his 17 year old cousin were walking their pit bull near Quenby Drive when another canine struck them from behind.
"It tried to bite my cousin's dog. He pulled his dog back, and it bit my hand," Jackson explained.
The bites from the attack cut deep into Jackson's skin, causing a fracture in his hand.
"[People] need to keep their dogs tied up. Dogs that are vicious like that need to be contained," said Lance Siler, the boy's father.
Animal Control officers are looking for a black and brown German Shepherd mix with white paws. Witnesses also noticed a collar on the dog, complete with what looked like a rabies vaccination tag.
However, without examining the animal, DeAngelo will have to undergo painful rabies shots as a precaution.
That's something the family wants to avoid.
"Time is running out, and that's something we have to do just for protection of him. He was crying last night, and it has upset me even more," Siler said.
NOTE: If you have any information on the whereabouts of the dog in this case, you are urged to give Montgomery Animal Control a call at (334) 241-2970.
