Students at Stanford University will have an opportunity to take a computer science class focused on the Palo Alto-based social networking Web site Facebook.
The experimental class, Creating Web Applications Using Metrics And Learning On Facebook, begins this fall at the university.
"This class is cutting edge. It's teaching you something nobody else has studied," said student Matt Monahan.
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload photos, share links and videos, according to the site.
Instructors said the course is about gaining insight into the realm of online interaction.
So far, about 90 students have already registered for the class, which will ultimately be capped at 40 to 50 students.
