Montgomery's First Park Receives Historic Marker

A Montgomery park that holds a special place in many people's hearts is now a piece of history.

Oak Park, Montgomery's first public park, is now complete with a historical marker.

The park first opened in 1886 as under the name Highland Park.

In the mid-1890's the city purchased the land and the park was given its current name.

The park has seen numerous changes over time but continues to be a playground for several generations of parkgoers.
