City Council Approves Cab Changes In Montgomery

If you depend on taxi service to get you from point A to point B in the capital city be prepared to dig a little deeper in your pocket for the fare.

The cost of a cab ride in Montgomery took a big jump on Tuesday night, up more than 18% because of a taxi-cab ordinance revision by the Montgomery City Council.

In exchange for higher rates, cab service owners will have to raise their standards.

That includes the minimum insurance they must provide to their passengers as well as the quality of their vehicles.

The average ten mile ride into town from the airport used to cost $16.70.

With the 18% increase it will now cost about $20.
