Covering Pike County: Teen Driving Program Announced

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for sixteen to twenty-one year olds.

Annual vehicular death rates caused by teen drivers hover around 6,000.

A recent report released in July ranks Alabama ninth in the nation for the number of fatal accidents involving young drivers.

On Tuesday, the City of Troy announced a new program to reduce the number of crashes involving teens.

The Collision Avoidance Training Program is a two day defensive driving and vehicle control program designed for teens.

Officials say teens who go through the program are 90% less likely to be involved in an accident.
