Very Rare Blue Lobster Found

Biologists discovered a rare find in a fish trap off Jamestown, Rhode Island over the weekend.
A rare blue lobster was found in a fish trap belonging to the Biomes Marine Biology Center.

According to officials at the North Kingstown Center, the crustacean is about four years old and ten to eleven inches long.

The lobster will not become a blue plate special but will stay at the biology center to help with education programs.
Recent research discovered that a genetic defect causes a blue lobster to produce an excessive amount of protein.

Blue lobsters are very very rare and it is believed they don't live long because their color makes them an obvious target for prey.
