Restored Hope for Capitol Monument

There's hope for the defaced Confederate Memorial Monument outside the State Capitol building.

After weeks of testing to see which process will best remove the graffiti, mason Charles Thomas has found the perfect chemical equation to breakdown the black paint used to damage the monument.

What started as an experiment has turned into a passion for unscrambling the work of vandals.

Thomas plans to start stripping the paint on Friday.

He says after that, it will only take a matter of days until the project is complete.

So far, no one has been arrested for the crime.
