A commercial truck driver in Abbeville is lucky to be alive after a log is launched through the windshield of his 18-wheeler.
The accident happened around 4:30 Wednesday morning on 431 North near State Highway 10 West in Abbeville.
The double-trailer AAA Coopers 18-wheeler swerved into the median and came to rest in the southbound lanes of traffic after a piece of timber from the log truck ahead of it slammed through the windshield and passenger seat headrest.
The log exited through the back of the cab.
The driver, whose name is not known at this time, was taken to a Dothan hospital with non-lifethreating injuries.
Officials with the Abbeville Police Department are investigating this accident as a hit-and-run since the log truck did not stop.
