A toy company hasn't opened a store in the state Capitol. It just looks that way.
A toy drive conducted by the Governor's Operation Grateful Heart and the Hoover Fire Department collected more than 6,000 toys. They have been taken to the Capitol for distribution to nearly 1,800 children across the state.
Governor Riley and other officials held a ceremony Tuesday to thank volunteers for their efforts. Riley says 20 charitable and military organizations will distribute the toys to needy children and to the children of deployed military.
