A Newton man has surrendered to police after admitting to stabbing his wife to death at her mother's home in Ozark.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said 41-year-old Darrin Keith Johnson said he stabbed 40-year-old Allison Fuller Johnson multiple times in the chest, back and throat.
The couple had recently separated and Allison Fuller was living at her mother's home with her children, ages 14 and 5. Both children were home at the time of the murder Monday morning.
Johnson was placed in the Dale County Jail under no bond.
Spivey said it was not known how long Darrin Johnson had been at the home before the assault and the couple had no domestic violence history in Ozark.
The death is the city's second homicide of the year.
