Suspects Captured in Montgomery Bank Robbery

Two suspects are in custody after Montgomery police say they robbed a bank Friday morning.

The robbery happened at the Colonial Bank branch on Carter Hill and Zelda road.

Montgomery police tell WSFA 12 News that bank officials identified 38-year-old Carl Kahler of Columbus, Georgia as the robber.

He gave a note to the bank teller which allegedly said, "I have a gun, give me the money."

According to police, Kahler then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Several police units, along with the Alabama Department of Public Safety's helicopter joined manhunt.

Kahler's vehicle was was spotted on the Atlanta Highway, and police eventually arrested both Kahler and his accomplice, 34-year-old Bradley Hedges also of Columbus, Georgia.

Hedges did not enter the bank.

Both suspects are being held at the Montgomery Detention Facility where they are charged with Robbery 1st Degree.

Both men are being held on $60,000 bond each.
