Animal Cruelty Charges Filed Against Dothan Man

Headland, Ala. (AP) - Headland police have charged a man him with misdemeanor animal cruelty after he allegedly left five mixed-breed dogs chained in the yard of his former home when he moved to Dothan.

Authorities said two of the dogs had to be euthanized.

55-year-old Ezekiel Thomas was released on $2,500 bond after he turned himself in to Authorities.

Headland investigators said they found five malnourished dogs and goose remains in the yard of his Headland home a week after receiving a call from a resident.

Police Chief Mark Jones said Thomas had apparently moved to Dothan from Headland and had likely left the dogs for at least a couple of days.
