City Council Approves Copper Ordinance

It's become a growing problem in the Capitol City, copper thefts.  Tuesday night the Montgomery City Council passed an ordinance to help put an end to this crime.  The council voted unanimously to pass a city wide copper ordinance.

Under the new law, dealers have to pay for copper with a check.  The customer must come back in 24 hours to pick up the check or have it mailed.  A photo id will also be taken of the seller and held for one year.

The council will meet with Montgomery Police in 90 days to review the ordinance and see if it's helping.
