The state of Alabama celebrates a duel holiday each year on the third Monday in January.
Alongside Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the state honors one of its Confederate War heros, General Robert E. Lee.
Thirty members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans gathered at the Confederate monument on the state capitol grounds to honor the soldier.
The group celebrated with songs honoring the Civil War general, but because of construction at the first White House of the Confederacy organizers will hold another Lee celebration sometime in the Spring.
General Lee was remembered as a master military strategist during the Civil War and a gentleman of integrity and high moral character.
