Updated Condition Released on Victim of Camp Hill Gang Violence Shooting

An updated condition has been released on the victim of a gang related shooting.

17-year-old Dexter Martin is listed in critical condition at East Alabama Medical Center today.

Doctors are trying to get Martin stable enough to transfer to U-A-B Hospital in Birmingham, but he is still unable to breath on his own.

Investigators say they think small town gang violence is responsible for sending the teenager to the hospital and another to jail.

Police say 19-year-old Mathew Brooks shot Martin in the face.

The incident happened Monday night at a housing project in Camp Hill.

Investigators believe the two teens were members of rival gangs, arguing over a stolen weapon.

Brooks now faces first degree assault charges.
