Several thousand people gathered inside the Shades Mountain Baptist Church for the memorial service of Bronner Burgess. Several thousand people gathered inside the Shades Mountain Baptist Church for the memorial service of Bronner Burgess.

At just two years old Bronner Burgess touched many lives across alabama and beyond.

Bronner, the son of popular radio host Rick Burgess of the "Rick and Bubba Show", drowned Saturday night in the family's swimming pool.

On Tuesday thousands of people turned out for a memorial service.

About 4,000 people packed the worship center at Shades Mountain Baptist Church to pay their respects to Bronner and to show support for his family.

Linda Newsom, a family friend, says "All of the state, their radio listeners, a lot of people were here."

Rick Burgess spoke through most of the ceremony  and friends say it was a testimony to the family's faith.

"I think it was one of the most inspirational services I've heard," one person said.

The Burgess family didn't know many of the people who came or who have sent their condolences, but thoses people call the Burgesses family.

Friends say it's that extended family that's helping the Burgesses get through this tough time.

"It's a testimony to Jesus Christ," another person explains.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Bronner Burgess Memorial.

This donation will be used by Rick & Sherri to create a memorial fund to give back to ministries in honor of their son.

If you would like to donate or send your condolences log onto www.rickandbubba.com.
