Greenville Police Investigating First Murder of 2008

Greenville, Ala. (WSFA) --  Greenville police are investigating their first murder of 2008 in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to a GPD press release, officers responded to 1104 East Commerce Street for a welfare check at 10:20 Monday morning.

At the residence officers discovered the bodies of 55-year old Patricia Lowery and her son 36-year old Scott Coshatt.

In a statement Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram writes, " It's a tragedy and our condolences are extended to the family."

Investigators say evidence at the scene leads them to believe Coshatt killed his mother and then took his own life.

At this time there is no known motive in the case.
