Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- Montgomery police are investigating a possible murder for hire.
On Sunday, detectives were contacted by a man who claimed 45-year old Cheryl L. Fuller had asked him to kill her ex-husband.
The man told police she offered to pay him $30,000 of the $100,000 insurance policy that she would receive in the settlement.
The man then said Fuller would contact him later to complete details of the murder-for-hire plot.
According to police, Fuller called the man back on Sunday and asked him if he could complete the murder sooner than originally planned.
At that point, the man contacted detectives at the Montgomery Police Department and began cooperating in their investigation.
The man and Ms. Fuller talked on the telephone again, and this time they decided to meet.
Detectives conducted surveillance on the meeting and subsequently arrested Ms. Fuller on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Capital Murder.
Fuller reportedly told police she assumed the man was only joking, and that she didn't think he was serious about killing her ex-husband.
She is now being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $60,000.00 bond.
