Fort Rucker Soldier Killed in Action in Afghanistan

FORT RUCKER, Ala. (February 6, 2008) - A Fort Rucker Soldier has been killed while serving his country.

29-year old Staff Sgt. Donald T Tabb was killed at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Tabb was a member of the 6th Military Police Detachment, 1 Bn, 13th Aviation Regiment.

He was a dog handler serving in Afghanistan with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force.

Other information on how Tabb died was not immediately available.

Tabb, a Norcross, Ga. native, is survived by his mother Gloria Smith of Lawrenceville, Ga.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, at 3:30 p.m. in the Fort Rucker Main Post Chapel.

The incident remains under investigation.
