"Young people...get your education...obey your parents and your leaders...don't get mixed up in drugs and that type of thing in our community."
Those were among the last words spoken in public last month by a very wise 97-year old woman who lived life with a purpose - Johnnie Carr.
If young people - with our encouragement - embrace those words, our region will certainly be a better place and the legacy of a woman so admired and appreciated for her wisdom, courage and fortitude would be extra special.
Many say Mrs. Carr was a mother figure to them.
How often have we said in our own lives, "If only we'd listened to mom."
