Potential Hyundai Suppliers to Meet

Dozens of Hyundai suppliers this week will get a two-day primer on how to do business in Alabama. Economic developers from the state will be in Seoul, South Korea, Wednesday and Thursday to meet with 90 representatives of more than 40 potential suppliers to the automaker. Hyundai plans to hold another meeting in Alabama this summer to give U.S. auto suppliers a chance to win contracts from the plant.

Hyundai has not selected suppliers to its $1 billion auto plant to be built in Montgomery starting later this year. The plant will produce the next-generation Santa Fe sport utility vehicle and Sonata sedan. Representing the state in Seoul will be Team Alabama, the state-lead effort aimed at linking suppliers with communities within 100 miles of the plant.
