Sanitation Work to Spend at Least Six Months in Hospital

Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- It will be a long road to recovery for a sanitation worker injured on the job earlier this week.

28-year old Ron Taggert is scheduled to undergo another surgery in Birmingham today to repair his pelvis.

After surgery he's expected to remain in the hospital for at least six months.

Taggert was pinned between a garbage truck and a utility pole Monday and was rushed to UAB Hospital.

Family members say he has opened his eyes only briefly, but he still hasn't spoken to anyone.
