First On WSFA 12 News: Springford Trial Date Set

WSFA 12 News is first with new information in the Brent Springford murder trial.

We have confirmed a date for one of the most anticipated murder trials in recent history. The judge in the Brent Springford Junior case has notified lawyers to be ready to start June 23rd in Birmingham.

The case will go forward in the Jefferson County Courthouse - after the Alabama supreme court said it had no reason to order Judge William Shashy to reconsider an earlier order moving the case from Montgomery.

Prosecutors say it will cost taxpayers an estimated quarter of a million dollars for their costs alone.
