Emergency Landing In Demopolis

On Tuesday at approximately 4:00 pm, Demopolis Police Department was informed by Meridian Mississippi Airport officials about the possibility of a downed aircraft in the area.  The pilot was en route to Mobile from Russellville, Alabama when he experienced mechanical problems. 

He was diverted to Demopolis and was approximately 3 miles north east of the airport when he reported losing all power and officials lost radar contact.   The pilot, James Bendall of Mobile, Alabama was able to land the 1964 Cessna 172F in a pasture near South Maria Ave. 

No one was injured and the plane was not damaged.
