Victims Identified in Tuesday Interstate Wreck

Opelika, Al. (WSFA) -- Authorities are releasing the names of the victims killed in a three car accident Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 85 in Opelika.

Fifty-five year old LaDonna Vajda of Cusseta and 28-year old Lakeisha Maddox of Tuskegee were killed when the BMW 328i driven by Vajda crossed over the median and was struck by a Lincoln driven by Maddox.

The autopsy report is still pending, but officials say both victims apparently died from massive blunt force injuries.

Funeral arrangements for Vajda will be announced later by Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika and for Maddox by McKenzie's Funeral Home in Tuskegee.

The accident remains under investigation by the Opelika Police, Lee County Coroner and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.
