Beulah Firefighters Battle Wildfire Blaze

Developing Lee County news...

The skies over Beulah are filled with smoke tonight as firefighters work to put out a wildfire.

The flames have burned more then one-hundred acres in beulah.

The fire started on Lee County Road 270 around 4:00pm today. We're told tonight it's under control.

Forestry officials tell our news partner WTVM. There is no official cause yet,  but it was most likely started by a small back-yard fire.

Andy Guy, Forestry Commision says, "It looks like there are several piles around. Somebody's been doing some debris burning in the past day or two. It doesn't take much to allow it to escape."

It took two volunteer fire departments, two plow units and forestry commission workers to contain the fire.
