Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- The newly installed red light camera systems seems to be working from high on their perches at seven busy Montgomery intersections.

In the first three days of operation the traffic cams have already caught 260 motorists running signals at which they should have stopped.

If the motorists didn't think anyone was watching as they rolled through the light, well they were wrong.

In a few days they'll receive a warning ticket in the mail.

The warning tickets will stop and the real tickets will begin starting May 1st.

Montgomery police are spending the month of April in training on how to spot the red light violators on tape.

Captain J.M. McCall of MPD says it only takes about a minute to determine whether the person ran the light or not.

First time offenders will be charged $50.
