Auburn Man Dies After Domestic Altercation

Auburn, Al. -- Thirty-eight year old Melvin Grady of Auburn died at the Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, Sunday as a result of injuries he received during a domestic altercation.

The Auburn Police Division had responded to a residence in the 300 block of Byrd Street on April 1 at the request of a family member to check on Grady's welfare.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Grady unconscious inside the home.

He was transported to East Alabama Medical Center then later transferred to Columbus where he remained hospitalized until his death.

Deaudry Butler, age 44, of Auburn has since been charged with Domestic Violence 1st Degree and remains incarcerated at the Lee County jail.

The case will now be presented to the Grand Jury for possible additional charges.
