Local Realtor Has Optimism in Dothan Housing Market

Dothan, AL (WSFA) --  Despite a lot of concern at the national level, Wiregrass Realty broker Travis Perry is optimistic about Dothan's housing market.

Perry says nationally home sales are down around 25% from this time last year.

Overall around 30% since 2005.

In Dothan, sales are only down about 15% from a year ago.

He advises prospective buyers that lower interest rates and federal aid programs in congress, make this a good time to consider buying in Dothan.

"It's stabilized, they've come out with programs now and it's on it's way back up, plus interest rates are almost at an all time low again, so it's a great time, if you have a good credit score, it's a great time to buy a property," said Perry.

In March of 2008 Dothan recorded 75 home sales compared to 92 in March of last year.
