11-Year-Old Killed in Accidental Gun Discharge in Troy

Troy, Al. (WSFA) -- Troy Police responded to a reported accidental discharge of a gun Friday in Troy at approximately 12:30 pm on Laurel Lane according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

When Troy Police arrived at the scene they found an 11-year old girl0 suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. The child was sitting in the backseat of her parent's car when the incident occurred.

It is believed the gun accidently discharged while being removed from the trunk of the vehicle and went through backseat, striking the 11 year-old in the back.

Troy Fire Department personnel administered first-aid and CARE Ambulance transported her to Troy Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
