Homicide in Houston County

Dothan, AL (WSFA) -- The Houston County Sheriff's office is trying to find the person who killed a 69-year-old man.

The sheriff says Joe Tex Johnson was found shot in his home.

Johnson lived off of Courtney Lane right outside of Dothan.

On April 2nd of this year Johnson home was burglarized and a rifle and a large amount of loose change was taken.

The shooting is under investigation but, officials believe the shooting was not random.

"We don't feel like this is a case where some transient individual was riding down the road and decided, hey I see this house up here and I'm going to rob this individual and kill him. You definitely had to know where you were going to find this residence it was very isolated from the roadway even though it was in a fairly populated area, it was isolated," said Sheriff Andy Hughes.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw Mr. Johnson between night or early Tuesday to call Dothan crimestoppers at 793-7000.
