Train Vs. Truck in Macon County

Macon County, Al. (WSFA) -- Alabama State Troopers have cleared the scene of a morning accident involving a train and an 18-wheeler.

Troopers tell WSFA 12 News the accident happened at 7:30 Thursday morning, when a tractor-trailer didn't stop at the railroad crossing on County Road 93.

That crossing is right off Interstate 85 near exit 22.

Troopers say the driver of the truck didn't see the train backing up, so he drove onto the tracks and was hit by the train.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injuried.

Troopers say there were no caution signs or lights at the railroad crossing, which may have something to do with why the truck driver didn't stop before crossing the tracks.
