Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- Republicans aren't rolling out the red carpet in anticipation of U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's Birmingham visit.
On Friday, the Alabama Republican Party issued a statement chastising the Speaker for her "disregard for economic development in the state".
The Party says Pelosi's visit to Alabama is "not because she cares about Alabama, but rather to raise money to promote liberal socialist views..."
The statement warns Alabamians to watch out for candidates calling themselves "Conservative Democrats" during the upcoming elections, citing their relationship with Pelosi and her pro-gay and anti-military views.
Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Republican Party says, "Of all the people for the Democrats to bring to our state to hold up as a representative of what their party stands for, the chose Nancy Pelosi, even while she is vigorously fighting to take jobs out of Alabama. It is an insult to every Alabamian that the Alabama Democratic Party would promote and welcome a liberal like her to our state."
Pelosi will be in Birmingham Friday with U.S Representative Artur Davis. They are planning to visit The Lakeshore Foundation.
