Red Level, Al. (WSFA) -- An 18-month old infant who went missing late Sunday afternoon has been located.
Covington County Sheriff's deputies, in conjuction with other offices, began looking for 18-month old Christian Caleb Breau shortly after the 911 call came into dispatch Sunday evening.
A search dog was brought in to pick up the missing child's scent, but Sheriff's posse member Chad Clark and his search dog weren't able to locate a good track. A Dale County helicopter equipped to detect body heat also had no luck in finding the boy.
The search for Breau was called off Sunday night, and a cadaver dog was called back due to the terrain.
On Monday morning around 6AM, search teams got the news they were hoping for. An investigator with the District Attorney's office found the boy just 1/4 mile from where he went missing.
According to a release from the Covington County Sheriff's office, the boy was wrapped in jackets provided by officers and was immediately taken to the Andalusia Emergency Room for evaluation for exposure to the elements.
"We are all very thankful for Christian's safe return," Sheriff Meeks says.
Meeks extended his thanks to everyone involved with the search.
