The city of Dothan is joining a growing list of cities going green. Monday, the city launched a pilot program for curbside recycling. Initially the program will operate in select areas of the city, but officials hope that if the pilot program succeeds it will go citywide. Dothan mayor Pat Thomas says, "by recycling we will be saving the citizens of Dothan a lot of money in the future and we want everyone to get involved."
Thomas also told WSFA 12 News that recycling will extend the life of the city's landfill and benefit the city financially. Residents who live in one of the pilot areas can begin recycling the second week of July.
