"Click It or Ticket" Campaign Kicks Off

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) -- Hundreds of Alabamians die each year because they do not  wear a seat belt. Now, state and local law enforcement agencies are turning up the heat on seat belt safety. The 2008 "Click It or Ticket" campaign kicked off in Montgomery on Tuesday.

Organizers are working to educate drivers on the need to buckle up.  The rule is simple, buckle up or get a ticket. You can expect to see state troopers and local police swarming highways as we count down to Memorial Day.   According to state officials, motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death.  The goal of the campaign is to help Alabamians protect themselves.  The official beginning of the campaign is May 19th through Memorial Day weekend.
