Barlow Speaks to WSFA 12 Sports in Exclusive Interview

Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- Alabama State University's hearing with the NCAA's "committee on infractions" is still three months away.

The Hornets are already paying the price, however, on the recruiting circuit.

Ever since ASU received notice of the allegations last week, rival coaches are using the threat of NCAA penalties to discourage prospects from considering Bama State, even though the alleged violations occurred long before Reggie Barlow took over as ASU's head coach.

It's Barlow's program that's suffering.

Barlow says, "We have instructed our coaches to let everyone know that those things happened five years ago. Naturally, kids want to go somewhere where they're going to have an opportunity to earn an education and play football at a high level, and I think we're still going to be able to offer that at Alabama State."

Barlow says "things have changed" at his alma mater since the alleged violations occurred an he believes ASU is now "heading in the right direction".
