The redesign of Montgomery Regional Airport has hit a snag, at least in the eyes of their rental car tenants. The rental agencies are upset because the Airport Authority is considering moving them away from the main terminal. Right now, the three rental car companies operate from separate lots not far from the terminal. The airport's Intermodal Facility Plan includes putting all three together in one covered lot near the back of the facility.
Members of the rental car companies say they are concerned about the convenience and safety of their customers. "To me it's a little bit more dangerous than the little bit of traffic that may be generated in front of the airport," says Michael Stewart of Budget & Avis Rent-A-Car. Airport Authority officials tell WSFA 12 News they are going to look at a location that will be conducive to all their goals and objectives from a customer service standpoint.
