Covering Pike County: Walking is about to Get a Little Easier in Downtown Troy

Life is about to get a little easier for pedestrians in Troy.  The Department of Transportation approved the city for a $400,000 grant in order to build a new sidewalk in the heavily trafficked area of George Wallace near Troy University.  Troy Mayor Jimmy Lunsford says the new addition has a two-fold purpose, "one it gives the people in this community and there are a lot of residents that live here an opportunity to have a good place to will also afford an opportunity for international students here on campus to do a lot of walking." The official design hasn't been approved yet.  The mayor expects work to begin sometime this summer.
