Hundreds of Athletes Compete in the 2008 Special Olympics

Pike county welcomed hundreds of special athletes this weekend and the weather could not have been better.   Troy University hosted the 2008 Alabama Summer Special Olympics. More than 1200 athletes from across the state competed in a variety of events ranging from track and equestrian and bowling.  Many police officers from all over the state also came to the games today to help out.  They say the athletes are the real heroes of the day and win or lose, it's all about having fun.
