Montgomery City Council Passes Two Major Ordinances

Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- Tuesday night, Montgomery City Council unanimously passed two ordinances.

One statute will hold local businesses accountable for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, potentially pulling their business licenses if they violate the ordinance.

Another ordinance will impose strict mandatory minimum jail sentences for anyone involved with prostitution in Montgomery.

A resolution sposored by Councilman Willie Cook to provide temporary free public tranportation this summer failed to pass.

The city council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd.
