Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- Tuesday morning's shooting of a 20-year old woman appears to be the result of a fight over a boyfriend.

Twenty-year old Lataffney Means of 3131 Dobbs Drive has turned herself in to authorities after shooting another woman in the lower chest.

Means is now charged with Assault 1st Degree.

The bullet that struck the woman, who has not been identified, apparently traveled in a downward motion instead of straight through the victim's chest as was originally thought, and her condition has since been upgraded to serious but non lift-threatening.

The shooting happened in the 3700 block of Gas Light Curve around 11AM.

That is were witnesses tell police the victim and Means were arguing when Means went inside a residence.

The victim then apparently knocked out the windows of Means' vehicle and began hitting the door to the house with a hammer.

Now, Means is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on $60,000 bond.
