Don't Let Them Eat Cake!

A suburban Chicago school district is banning some sweet treats from the classroom.

Beginning next fall no birthday cakes or cupcakes will be allowed during parties held in classrooms in the Arlington Heights school district.

Superintendent Sarah Jerome says that sweets are not completely being outlawed, as they will still be allowed on Halloween and Valentine's Day.

She also said that birthday celebrations themselves will not be prohibited.

The move is being made as part of the district's effort to combat childhood obesity.
